Prints from Guanlan
Prints from Guanlan
I had a residency at the Guanlan International Printmaking Base in Guanlan, China from mid-May until the beginning of July 2019. Guo Qingwen and Zhao Jiachun run the Guanlan International Printmaking Base and the China Print Museum. Zhang Chi is the translator and general problem solver. During the residency I made three prints, all etchings and they were printed by Liu Hongliang -- Endangered House, Rising Waters and Signs of life.
I also met many artists. Some were old friends and some I met for the first time. This enabled me to acquire a number of prints. These prints are by Cheryl Hochberg, Barbara Madsen and Lynne Allen from the United States, Liu Hongliang, Su Peiyu, Zhang Jianfeng, Wang Caizhen, Zhao Jianghua and Yu Chunbo from China, Mehdi Darvishi from Iran and Praween Piangchompu and Jitti Jumnianwai from Thailand. For someone like me, living in a small town in Pennsylvania, It's very exciting to be surrounded by all these terrific printmakers.
