Geometry in Landscape China May to July 2019
I've traveled to China seven times and most of my time there has been in the Shenzhen area, near the Guanlan International Printmaking Base. Some of the features I've noticed in the landscape are geometric concrete structures embedded in the ground. They are designed to prevent erosion and are usually on sloping ground. They interest me because they deal with landscape, geometry, change and deterioration, all themes in my work. I've been using these forms in my artwork for some time and I'm currently (December 2019) working on a new drawing and etching plate where they cover most of the landscape.
